Routine Podiatry & General Foot Health

Our routine treatments are the cornerstone of good foot health. Whether you are struggling to reach your feet, managing a chronic condition, or simply wanting to maintain optimal comfort, our routine appointments cover all common foot complaints.

  • Medical Nail Care: Thickened, discolored, or difficult-to-cut nails can cause significant discomfort in your shoes. We professionally trim, file, and mechanically reduce thickened nails using specialized burrs. For fungal nail infections, we clear away affected debris and provide targeted advice on topical treatments to restore the health and appearance of your nails.
  • Hard Skin (Callus) & Corn Removal: Calluses and corns develop as a protective response to friction and abnormal foot pressure, but they can quickly become agonizing. We expertly and painlessly remove hardened skin using clinical scalpel techniques. For corns, we carefully extract the hard, localized core that causes sharp pain, providing you with immediate relief from the moment you stand up.
  • Cracked Heels (Fissures): Dry, callused heels can split open, causing deep fissures that are not only painful to walk on but are also highly susceptible to infection. We safely reduce the thick, inflexible skin surrounding the cracks, smooth the area, and apply intensive clinical-grade emollients to promote healing and restore skin elasticity.
  • Conservative Ingrown Toenail Management: A nail piercing the surrounding skin is incredibly painful. Before jumping to surgery, we offer conservative management. We gently clear the nail fold (sulcus), skillfully remove the offending sharp spike of nail, and smooth the edges to relieve pressure. We also provide education on proper nail-cutting techniques to prevent recurrence.
  • Skin Infections & Verrucae: We diagnose and treat common dermatological issues such as Athlete’s Foot and verrucae (plantar warts). Because verrucae are often mistaken for corns, a professional diagnosis is vital. We offer tailored treatment plans ranging from clinical acid applications to specialized advice on resolving stubborn viral infections safely.

Verruca Treatment

Verruca needling (also called Falknor’s needling) is a minor medical procedure used to treat stubborn verrucas (plantar warts), which are caused by the Human papillomavirus.

What it is

Verruca needling involves puncturing the verruca multiple times with a fine sterile needle under local anaesthetic. The goal isn’t just to destroy the wart tissue—it’s to trigger your immune system to recognise and fight the virus.

How it works

Verruca Needling (Dry Needling): Verrucae (plantar warts) can be incredibly resilient, often causing frustration by resisting months or even years of over-the-counter paints, clinical acids, or freezing therapies. For these highly stubborn, long-standing infections, we offer an advanced minor surgical procedure known as Dry Needling. Performed safely in our clinic under local anesthetic—so you feel absolutely no pain during the treatment—we use a fine, sterile needle to systematically puncture the verruca multiple times. This controlled technique physically breaks down the infected tissue and pushes the viral particles deeper into the skin's dermal layer. This process effectively "wakes up" your body’s own immune system, triggering it to recognize and naturally destroy the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) that causes the lesion. Unlike traditional treatments that require multiple, sometimes painful weekly visits, needling typically only requires a single session and leaves the surrounding healthy skin completely intact. We provide full protective dressings and comprehensive aftercare advice to ensure your comfort as your immune system goes to work clearing the infection.

Specialist Clinical Care

For chronic, painful, or complex lower limb issues, we provide advanced clinical interventions designed to offer long-term solutions.

  • Nail Surgery: For chronically painful or recurring ingrown toenails that do not respond to conservative care, we offer a permanent solution. This minor surgical procedure is performed safely in-clinic under local anesthetic. We remove the problematic section of the nail (or the whole nail if necessary) and apply a specialized chemical to the nail bed to prevent that section from ever growing back. We also provide full aftercare and dressing appointments to monitor your healing.
  • Diabetic & High-Risk Foot Assessments: Diabetes can significantly impact the circulation and nerve function (sensation) in your lower limbs, putting you at a high risk for ulcers and delayed healing. We conduct comprehensive neurovascular screenings, utilizing Doppler ultrasound to check blood flow and monofilaments to test nerve reflexes. We actively manage "at-risk" feet, stepping in early to prevent serious complications and keeping your GP informed of any changes.
  • Aches, Pains & Biomechanics: General foot pain, arch ache, and heel pain (such as Plantar Fasciitis) often stem from structural imbalances or poor footwear. We assess your foot posture and gait to identify the root cause of your mechanical pain. We provide expert advice, stretching protocols, and can supply supportive insoles or orthotics to correct your alignment and redistribute painful pressure.
